Miles’ recognized the Paris firm in his acceptance of his award. “I cubbed under some old Aggies who taught me the ropes, the old school way of doing business. Mr. Harrison and Mr. Walker poured their knowledge into me both before and after I graduated from Texas A&M. Chip Harper constantly trained us and educated us on how to make quality a priority in everything that we built and he taught me how to sell and negotiate construction services. I will forever be thankful for the time I spent with those guys.”

The 100 Aggie-owned or managed companies with the highest compound annual revenue growth from 2006 to 2008 were recognized at a formal luncheon at Texas A&M University on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009.

“Texas A&M University and the Mays Business School’s Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship have built a tradition of pride among former students who have been named to the 2009 Aggie 100, as well as those who have made it any point in our history,” said Dr. Richard H. Lester, Executive Director of the Mays Business School’s Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship. “We are extremely proud to honor such fine businesses honored and even more proud that they speak to the legacy of the values Texas A&M instills in all of our students.”

Miles Construction Corporation operates primarily in the Bryan/College Station area and builds commercial, industrial and multifamily projects. They specialize in building pre-engineered steel buildings and were recognized as the Outstanding Builder of the Year in 2007 and 2008 by Star Building Systems of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They were also the top winner of the coveted Newman 10 Business Performance Award in the Brazos Valley. Today I list Jesus Christ as my CEO on our organizational chart. It works a lot better that way.” When asked what advice he could give upcoming entrepreneurs he stated, “It just takes hard work. You have to reject passivity, accept responsibility, live courageously and expect a greater reward. Not the kind of reward you would find in a bank account.”
